As I've written about before, I adore no-carve pumpkin decorating for Halloween. The creative options are virtually endless, and you get to avoid both big messes and sharp tools—a big plus when working with little kids.

This year, my son to chose to make a twist on the Pom-Pom Pumpkins from Parents magazine. The process couldn't have been easier. The result: whimsical and satisfying. Their article also features these adorable Disco Ball Pumpkins, Masked Cat and Puppy Pumpkins, and Eyelash and Mustache Pumpkins. You can watch videos of me demonstrating how to make them on The Today Show:

To make a Pom-Pom Pumpkin, use acrylic or tempera paint to paint your pumpkin a color, if you like, and let dry. Use craft glue, such as Aleene's Original Tacky Glue, to glue on pom-poms. Glue them randomly, as we did here, spell out the word "Boo," or make a design, such as a geometric pattern or a crescent moon. The results will be spooktacular no matter what.
